Complete list of LGBT films at TIFF

An inside look at PTP’s video coverage plans for the film fest

As promised, below you will find the complete list of films we consider LGBT content at the Toronto International Film Festival. The most recent addition to our list is The Duke of Burgundy. A press release for this British film came across our desks just hours before this posting, and it sounds like there is some lesbian content in it — a rarity at festivals it seems. So, we are jumping on it.

Our requests for interviews with stars, directors and producers have been sent. We have been promised an interview with Benedict Cumberbatch, star of The Imitation Game, pending final approval. We are still waiting to hear about Xavier Dolan. We have been reduced to begging at this point, but he is gay, Canadian and extremely talented. So, beg we will.

And we have put in many more requests. Watch our coverage to see what we get.

Above is our interview with Andrew Murphy, from the Inside Out LGBT Film Festival, who has some great insight. And we have just posted our video featuring LGBT shorts. One of the most anticipated is Hole. We have an interview scheduled with the lead actor, Ken Harrower, and director Martin Edralin later this week, so watch for that.

A sad omission in our shorts coverage was Jordan Tannahill’s film Father. Somehow it fell between the cracks. But everyone at the office is excited about this short, so go see it.

Check out our blog post tomorrow: we talked to Canadian queer filmmaker Bruce LaBruce (who was a judge for the Queer Palm at Cannes this year) and will be unleashing his TIFF insights, picks and pans. You don’t want to miss that interview. And blog readers will get a bonus. I am not saying what the bonus is but watch for it.

Now, without further ado: here is our complete list of queer-themed, -inspired and -directed films at TIFF 2014. Enjoy — and tell us what we missed!

Please check TIFF’s official schedule to confirm premiere screening times.
