Canadians win gold in Outgames triathlon

Pair crossed finish line together, holding hands

WINNER’S CIRCLE. From left to right: Martin Malo, Scott Simpson and Matt Tatham.

Remember Toronto triathlete Scott Simpson, who Xtra profiled back in June?

Martin Malo, of Montreal, and Simpson tied for overall gold in the Olympic-length triathlon with a time of 2:07:59. In a very sweet move, they crossed the finish line together, holding hands.

Matt Tatham, of Toronto, won gold in his age category (50-54).

Simspon and Tatham also each won silver in their age categories in the men’s 10k run, and bronze in their age categories in the cycling time trial event.
