Same-sex ballroom dancing made headlines in May when So You Think You Can Dance judge Nigel Lythgoe had harsh words for a same-sex dance couple. Some called his remarks homophobic, and he responded on Twitter by saying that he’s not a fan of “effeminate dancing” and “Brokeback ballroom.” He later issued an apology.

None of that mattered at last month’s World Outgames — the dance program was a spectacular display of talent that drew huge crowds. Xtra.ca caught up with the light-footed gang and checked in with some winners.
