In an article for The Daily Beast, journalist Nico Hines published enough information from Grindr to effectively out several gay athletes, including those from homophobic countries. The Daily Beast eventually pulled the article, and apologized.

Belize decriminalizes gay sex

The supreme court of the tiny Central American country Belize has ruled that a law banning gay sex, or “carnal intercourse against the order of nature,” is unconstitutional. The case was brought by local gay activist Caleb Orozco. Belize has been the victim of targeted attempts by American evangelicals to spread anti-gay sentiment abroad.

Russian anti-gay movie dubbed into English

News website Russian Insider has published an English dubbed version of the Russian documentary film Sodom, a full-tilt polemic against homosexuality. The film is an unsettling look into the homophobic attitudes driving Russia’s crackdown on gay rights.

Canadian Blood Services accidentally advertises on Grindr

The Canadian agency responsible for collecting blood donations accidentally ran an advertisement on Grindr, even though sexually active gay men are banned from giving blood. The Canadian Blood Services apologized, and said the ad was due to a mix-up with a mobile advertising vendor.
