The Children’s Aid Foundation of Ottawa (CAFO) helps support all kinds of children and youth served by the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa (CASO): children who have shown resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity; children without the resources to explore their talents and interests; and children who could use an extra hand to explore their full potential.
What few people realize is that CAFO provides these children with the opportunities and support they need. For 25 years, CAFO has supported the important work of CASO by providing educational and enrichment opportunities to children, youth and families in the Ottawa community through a variety of programs.
Every child should have the opportunity to enjoy life-enriching experiences. That’s why CAFO provides financial assistance for sports, recreational and cultural opportunities through its Cookie Jar Fund. This also includes funding for school trips, cultural events, music lessons and sports activities, as well as essential items that ensure children are well cared for. By investing in over 7,000 children and youth who are served by CASO each year, sports and education dreams can become a reality.
The Camp for Kids program provides funding to help send kids to camp so they can develop leadership skills and confidence, all while having fun.
CAFO believes that education is a powerful tool that allows children and young adults to achieve their full potential and shape their future. For that reason, it provides funds for tutoring through the Scotia Capital Leap to Learning Program. The program assists with the academic progress of children and young adults through all stages of their education.
Through the Dare to Dream bursary program, CAFO provides funds to assist with post-secondary tuition for young adults who are or were formerly in CASO’s care. This year is the 20th anniversary of the program. Over the past two decades, CAFO has directly helped over 700 young adults with over $2 million in bursary funding.
All of this support would not be possible without Ottawa’s caring and compassionate community, as well as the individuals, corporations and organizations that share in CAFO’s vision: that every child should have the opportunity to pursue their dreams and achieve their full potential.
