Marking the attack against Matthew Shepard

Eleven years ago today, Oct 6 1998, in Laramie Wyoming, Matthew Shepard was beaten and left for dead by a pair of homophobic thugs.

Shepard’s story galvanized communities of gay people in the US and around the world and he became a posterboy against homophobic violence.
