American Psycho director tackles girl crushes

Moth Diaries stars Lily Cole and Sarah Bolger

Moth Diaries, the latest vampire flick to hit the big screen, includes a highly erotic relationship between teen girls at an exclusive boarding school.

“It’s amazing when you watch young teenage girls together,” says director Mary Harron, who also directed American Psycho. “They are so physical . . . It’s romantic. It’s emotional. It’s erotic, and we don’t know how to even define it.”

Moth Diaries is based on the bestselling book by Rachel Klein and stars Lily Cole and Sarah Bolger. It opens in select theatres on Fri, April 6.

Below is Xtra‘s interview with Harron and actors Cole and Bolger.

On occasion, the number of editors and other staff who contribute to a story gets a little unwieldy to give a byline to everyone. That’s when we use “Xtra Staff” in place of the usual contributor info. If you would like more information on who contributed to a particular story, please contact us here.
