Pedro and Buddy to be reunited!

A few days ago I posted about the Toronto Zoo’s gay African penguins, Pedro and Buddy. It was reported that the inseparable twosome would be isolated from each other and paired with a female penguin to reproduce. It was a frustrating story to hear, because there are only 60,000 African penguins in the wild, and the number is quickly decreasing. But penguins mate for life, so the separation wasn’t going to be easy for Pedro or Buddy.

Luckily, Tom Mason, Toronto Zoo’s curator of invertebrates and birds has said, “There will be a limited time of separation, but it will not be permanent. No matter what happens, all the penguins will be reunited by spring. If Pedro and Buddy wish to get back together, they will be welcome to do so.”
