Three Busty Hookers

Sure to dominate Question Period next week – how Rahim Jaffer’s tale just got that much more sordid, what with the questionable business contacts, the apparent influence peddling, and those three well-endowed escorts on the night in question. And yes, we’re going to hear all about it in the House, I’m sure. Funnily enough, the Conservative Party logo disappeared from Jaffer’s website shortly after the story broke. The PMO insists Jaffer had no influence — even if he was Harper’s handpicked caucus leader, that the door to the PMO is “padlocked.” Oh, and Jaffer using one of the four BlackBerries assigned to his wife’s office, despite it being clearly against the rules for MPs? Is apparently “common practice” if you ask Guergis’s staff. Huh – how much do we want to bet this will be coming up in Question Period as well?

Incidentally, the Toronto Star’s Susan Delacourt explains how #bustyhookers became a trending topic as a result of this story.

Maclean’s Aaron Wherry takes a closer look into Canada’s Most Intellectually Bankrupt MP Shelly Glover’s assertions earlier this week that the Liberals voted against the sexual offender registry. The results were pretty revealing as to just how far Glover is willing to torque events to suit her hyper-partisan purposes.

Apparently female journalists were barred from using the washroom during an announcement by the Prime Minister because it was a “security issue.” Seriously? Perhaps this is getting a bit much.

Oh, look – a trip to the archives shows that the government was outraged about former child sex offenders getting pardons three-and-a-half years ago! And suddenly what’s old is new again, and moral panics are being recycled. Funny how these things happen, no?

And Her Excellency will soon be off on a state visit to four different African countries.

Up today – Speaking of Her Excellency, she will be attending the End of an Era commemoration in Ottawa. Liberal veteran’s affairs critic Rob Oliphant will be attending the commemoration in Halifax.

PS – First death penalties in Uganda, and now “corrective rape” for gays and lesbians in Zimbabwe? Seriously?
