From the very first week of Canada’s Drag Race Season 2, it was clear Icesis Couture is a star. During that episode, the Ottawa-based performer won the very first challenge by constructing an asymmetrical Vivenne Westwood-inspired coat dress almost entirely out of paper coat check tickets.
It was the first of a parade of fashion moments that showed off not only her taste, but also her ability as a designer—Icesis also snatched a win during The Sinner’s Ball, where she created a BDSM-themed look out of leather and chains.
Ahead of the big finale, Icesis joined Xtra’s After The Sashay to talk about making it to the final three, why people need to stop sleeping on Ottawa’s drag scene and what it meant to her to represent Latinx queers on the show.
